SRI AUROBINDO CENTRE FOR CONSCIOUSNESS STUDIES

The aim of the Sri Aurobindo Centre for Consciousness Studies is to conduct, encourage and support the study of consciousness in the light of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. The centre hopes to build bridges between Sri Aurobindo's work and Psychology as an academic science and to develop a truly integral psychology which combines the best of what the Indian tradition and modern science have to offer with regards to human nature and its possibilities for further evolution.

The centre, which was inaugurated on 24 November 2001, was originally located near the Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Pondicherry (India) in the same house where Dr.Indra Sen used to stay, who coined the term Integral Psychology in the 1940s.

On February 21, 2006 the Sri Aurobindo Centre for Consciousness Studies started an independent organisation for the development of Indian Psychology, the Indian Psychology Institute. Since then many of the activities of the Sri Aurobindo Centre for Consciousness Studies have merged with those of the Indian Psychology Institute, inclusive its office and its website.

Many web-pages that were previously on the SACCS website are now available on the IPI website. Please visit http://ipi.org.in and browse from there.

The SACCS website, http://saccs.org.in now contains only those pages that deal directly with the Integral Yoga and Integral Psychology of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.
